Our tree house is on fifty acres in central Minnesota, about two hours north west of the twin cities. The tree house is a refreshing break away from the ordinary. The tree house sits 18 feet off the ground on a ridge over looking Rock Lake. Its surrounded by our 50 acres and 500 acres of state land, we enjoy a lot of wildlife, peace and quiet here. Throughout the land there are a lot of trails for walking, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. In the summer you can enjoy paddle boating and kayaking. The tree house is built of almost all home sawed lumber. It has two bedrooms, a full bathroom, a kitchen, a sitting area in both the loft and the main level. It also has heating and air conditioning making it possible to rent year round. There is a wrap around porch on three sides and a deck out front, with a 6 person hot tub on it. There is HD ROKU on the flat screen - along with a blue-ray player for your DVD or blu-ray movies. We cut the cable cord, and use Youtube TV as an app on the ROKU that you are free to use, it has all the local channels, lots of sports, news, movie channels, etc. The front of the Cottage has a small porch with bench to relax in the shade during those hot days! Good hunting, public hunting land nearby, good lake for water skiing which was our family fun-time. It's also right next to MN State snowmobile trail for extra winter fun. Peace and quiet abound in this up-north getaway. Pets are welcome. There is a dog kennel attached to the garage. Groomed trails throughout the woods. Two full bathrooms. Two kitchens; upstairs and down. Two decks. Ample parking. There's an old 14 ft boat you can take out with an electric motor, or bring your own. This is not a walkout to the lake as there are steps down. Good exercise and a beautiful view, but not good if you have bad knees. There's not much of a beach as it is pretty rock but usable. The water drops off quickly and is 5-6 ft deep at the end of the dock. There is a floating swim platform for your use. Bring mosquito repellent as some years they can be bad. In 2018 they were virtually non-existent but it depends on the spring weather.

We have a nice space just off the driveway for them to go potty and also have dishes for pets! *TV is a ROKU tv. Many apps like Netflix and Hulu are available for use. We suggest logging out of your personal account before departure. Local channels are available on the app Locast on the tv. *Heat is provided through a in floor heating system. There is also an electric fireplace inside the suite that when on, provides an enormous amount of heat. The thermostat located in the kitchenette controls the heating and cooling in the suite. There are multiple large windows for sunlight as well as natural air flow. *Wifi provided. Great reception throughout suite. *Our family home is attached to our garage and the garage is attached to the private suite. This is the perfect home for families to enjoy for several days or more. Bring your bicycle because access to the Central Lakes Trail is 6 miles away in Osakis. The trail is built on 55 miles of former railroad line stretching between Fergus Falls and Osakis. It additionally passes through the communities of Dalton, Ashby, Melby, Evansville, Brandon, Garfield, Alexandria, and Nelson. The trail traverses through, or next to, a scenic mixture of woodlands, grasslands, lakes, wetlands, and farm country. The trail is open to non-motorized visitors with the exception of snowmobiles during the winter season. It is great for walking, running, bicycling, in-line skating, roller skiing, wheelchairs, etc. While Serenity on Smith is not wheelchair accessible throughout, there is access from the driveway to the lower level sleeping quarters/bathroom with no steps. Access to the open main floor with its decks and living areas from the back of the house requires only three steps. There are steps required to access the beach. This property is on a dead end road, and we cannot stress the amount of privacy and quiet that you will get to enjoy with your family and friends. Sand and water toys, kayaks, paddle boards, paddle boat, lily pad, indoor games, yard games (bocce, bean bag, board games and more provided). There is a beautiful playhouse that children will adore. We share with you and your family what our family has enjoyed for the last 7 years. *Mosquito Squad helps to minimize mosquitos for most of the day and night. However, we are in Minnesota and it is impossible to completely eliminate mosquitos. You will notice that mosquito activity is worse at dusk and will last 30-45 minutes until they settle on treated areas and perish. During the active time, we recommend using mosquito repellent or convening indoors until they settle. Great golf courses available nearby in St. Cloud, Sartell, Cold Spring, Richmond and Albany. This lake is not heavily populated - so the atmosphere is very peaceful. There is no public boat access. There are few jet-skis on the lake; kayaks and pontoons dominate. Bring your kayak or paddle boards, if you would like. There is also very good fishing, with walleye, northerns , and sunnys. Also in the winter months, great cross country skiing and snowmobiling. No pets, no smoking. Off street parking available for two large vehicles. Owners have a private residence in the lower level of this property with a private, separate entrance so as not to disturb your visit and respect your privacy.

Welcome to Reuss Retreat on Smith Lake What a wonderful place to get away! The cabin is at the end of a quiet dead end road, so you don’t have to worry about a traffic. A 100’ dock leads past the cattails into beautiful Smith Lake, well known for excellent sunnies and crappies (though I have done very well with Northern and Bass over the years). It’s a quiet lake, especially during weekdays, so you don’t have to battle lots of other boats. The lake is nearly 700 acres, big enough to have variety but small enough that you can enjoy the whole thing. A 14’ aluminum row boat is available for use (feel free to bring your own small motor). As you can see from the photos, it's not a swimming beach by any stretch, but it's a lovely setting. In the spring and early summer the water is crystal clear. As the season wears on the water grows cloudy (which actually helps with the fishing!). The cabin is a year round home, so it's perfect for a getaway in the middle of winter. Smith Lake is well known in the area for ice fishing, with schools of crappies and large Northern drawing ice houses onto the ice. The setting is also perfect for a quiet get-a-way, by yourself or with a few friends. Lounge around, put together some puzzles, and play some games. The home, built in 2004, brings peace and comfort. The front door opens into a vaulted living/dining/kitchen with knotty pine on the ceiling. Three bedrooms are down the hall: the master bedroom with a queen sized bed and master bath (with shower), a second bedroom with a queen bed, and a third with twin bunk beds and another twin bed. The futon in the living room opens into a full sized bed as well. A bath with tub and shower is on the main floor. We are new to VRBO and have been hard to work to make the cabin as comfortable as possible. In 2017 we added brand new sheets/towels/pillows and a deck on the back and an updated entry porch. in 2018 we upgraded he exterior, adding a retaining wall and rock all around the house. It looks lovely. We have a neighbor who serves as our used to own his own resort and will make you feel welcome and at home. He's available if any issue arises during your stay.
